 "We always enjoy preparing for a solo show at Clay AKAR. We find it pushes us to broaden the scope of our work by exploring something that is a little new for us. These pieces are some of our favorites that have been selected from our recent gas kiln firings in preparation for this 2023 solo show.
We feel we have developed some interesting new twists from our last firings. 
In Samantha’s recent work she decorates the pieces with a variety of colored underglazes creating abstract shapes that are then embellished with slip and glaze dot patterns.  The designs are then covered with a velum translucent satin glaze. She has recently added in figurative and symbol motifs.
Bruce has been developing color and texture in glazes compatible with shino glaze. These discoveries are used in combination of painted pigments and ceramic transfers to create collages of imagery and atmospheric effects which are enhanced by the gas reduction firing."
