Artist Statement
My work is defined by process and the sentimental experience of interacting with precious items on a daily basis. Whether this is the intimacy of touching a handmade vessel to your lips, or learning the way the light of day plays over a sculpture in your home. My canvases take on many forms, ranging from the utilitarian to purely decorative. My surfaces, decorations, and paintings are driven by the sensation of balance; when to add more and when to remove it completely.
Bio
Rachel Donner grew up in Taos, New Mexico. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in ceramics from the University of Northern Colorado in 2013. Donner has since been awarded multiple artist residencies including at Red Lodge Clay Center, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and University of California Long Beach. She currently lives in Santa Fe where she makes full time in her home studio and exhibits her work nationally.

2013 BA cum laude in Visual Arts, dual concentration in ceramics and painting, NASAD accredited Art and Design Program at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO.
